John Steckel is the Senior Vice President of Business Development for Vencore, Inc. In this role, he is responsible for leading Vencore’s business development function in developing and implementing long-range strategic plans; creating, identifying, developing, qualifying, and winning new business; and strengthening strategic partnerships to fuel Vencore’s growth.
Recently, John served as a vice president of business development Raytheon Company where he was responsible for developing and enabling enterprise-wide initiatives to enhance Raytheon’s ability to win new business and working throughout the enterprise supporting the company’s strategic opportunities. He has also served as vice president of business development for Raytheon Technical Service Company LLC (RTSC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Raytheon Company, where he led new business efforts in creating and winning new business opportunities.
Prior to joining Raytheon, John worked as the director of business development operations for BAE Systems Electronic Solutions Sector in Nashua, New Hampshire. While there, he was responsible for providing the business winning and marketing analysis services to multiple business areas throughout the company. Previously, he was the vice president of business development for BAE Systems Armament Systems Line of Business, where he led a team of business development professionals in developing overall business strategy and capturing new business. John has also served in multiple business development roles for BAE Systems Electronic Warfare business area.
Before joining BAE Systems, John served in multiple marketing and program management leadership roles at several companies including FedEx, PepsiCo (Taco Bell), Imagitas, Nashua Corporation, and Dharma Systems. While in these positions, he was responsible for growing business through developing and implementing customer-focused business models, opening new channels to market, and creating and launching new products and services.
John served 21 years in the United States Navy and United Stated Naval Reserves as a P-3C Orion Naval Flight Officer. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy and a Masters of Business Administration from the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
